Galveston Beach Guide

Galveston's best beaches — and the luxury services that make them effortless

Which stretch of sand suits your day, when to arrive, and how our concierge handles cabanas, beachfront rentals, charters, and seaside dining on Galveston Island.

Reading the water and the forecast…

The best beaches in Galveston, by the day you want

Galveston has more than 30 miles of Gulf shoreline, and the right choice depends on whether you want lifeguards and rentals, an event crowd, or an empty stretch of dune.

Family favorite

Stewart Beach

Best for: Families with young children

Lifeguarded, gently sloping surf at the east end of the Seawall with restrooms, showers, and a large paved lot. Arrive before 10am on summer weekends; our concierge can request shaded cabana seating and a stocked cooler waiting at your umbrella.

Events & live music

East Beach (R.A. Apffel Park)

Best for: Social days and festivals

Galveston's widest beach and the island's festival stage — the only beach where alcohol is permitted. Ideal for group days out; we book beachfront tents, private servers, and a driver on standby for the ride back to your rental.

Most convenient

Seawall Boulevard Beaches

Best for: Walk-out-the-door beach time

Ten miles of accessible sand fronting the hotels, rental stands, and restaurants of the Seawall. Best for short, spontaneous beach hours between dinner reservations and spa appointments.

Quieter Seawall

Babe's Beach

Best for: Calm mornings

A restored stretch on the west end of the Seawall that stays noticeably less crowded than the central beaches. Our favorite spot for sunrise coffee service and a private yoga or photography session.

Natural & uncrowded

Galveston Island State Park

Best for: Nature, birding, kayaking

Dunes, bayside marsh trails, and paddling water on both sides of the island. Bring everything you need — there are no rental stands. We arrange guided kayak launches and a chilled picnic drop at your chosen trailhead.

Private & residential

Jamaica Beach & the West End

Best for: Beach-house stays

Low-density sand fronting the island's beach-house neighborhoods, with the quietest water and the darkest skies for stargazing. Pair it with a private chef dinner on the deck.
